Birthday Ride at Northshore in Flower Mound

Last weekend I celebrated birthday number 42. Thursday we headed out to my favorite pizza joint for some bacon marmalade on the Delia with a Moscow mule chaser.

The Bike Exchange used to be right next to the pizza place.

Our local bike trail has been underwater, but the water level has dropped significantly. It’s a mess in many spots. Riders who don’t check the trail conditions haven’t made that situation better by leaving ruts in the dirt, but what you gonna do.

I love taking photos during my rides. I get to play around and don’t worry (too much) about how they turn out, if they match a certain style, or if they fit into my portfolio.

Was this a training ride? It sure felt like it. We booked it up and down the hills at the park, and down the roads on the way home. Honestly, I think any time on the bike right now for me is training if it leaves me tired and my legs a little sore. We finished our ride with a detour to the local beer store - I told Dave that my bike bag was merely a coincidence, and that no I hadn’t thought about the beer store before our ride.

He didn’t buy it. The ride was a good way to say hello to 42, and it’s my birthday, so beer me. My goal before birthday 43 is to get stronger on the bike and ride a century on gravel. I know I’m going to regret that decision, but I’m doing it anyway.
